Wedding Venues in Virginia Beach
The Cavalier Hotel in Virginia Beach is one of the most elegant venues in Hampton Roads. Built in 1926, the hotel is a landmark of the Virginia Beach oceanfront and provides gorgeous backgrounds for any wedding. It’s a photographer’s dream to work at this location and Kinstler Photography has photographed several weddings at the Cavalier Hotel. I had the unique privilege of photographing the last wedding at the hotel before renovations began in 2013 and I photographed one of the first weddings that occurred when the hotel opened after renovations in 2018. Tim & Meghan Bakner provided a lovely review of their experience at The Cavalier Hotel for their wedding in October 2013, which was the last wedding at The Cavalier Hotel before it closed for renovations:
“When we were planning our wedding reception we wanted to have a location that was truly beautiful and unique. After visiting The Cavalier, we were in awe of the quiet class and sophistication reminiscent of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel The Great Gatsby. It was then that we were hooked; there was no other place in our minds. We had the privilege of being the last wedding reception at The Cavalier before it closed for renovations. The rooms glowed with memories of past parties as our guests danced the night away. The grand old building was rightfully getting a final wedding to celebrate.”
Cavalier on the Hill Weddings
There are many other ceremony locations available at The Cavalier Hotel, but the Sunken Gardens is my favorite site. The Sunken Gardens is breathtaking, with its brick walkways, porches, and steps. The surrounding foliage and steep hillside creates an intimate setting for a wedding ceremony, giving you and your guests a sense of privacy and solitude.
The SeaHill Spa is very modern and spacious, which is excellent for taking photos of getting your hair and makeup done with your bridal party and the hotel also has its own distilling company, The Tarnished Truth Distilling Company. This area of the hotel, along with the Hunt Room, is an excellent location for the groom and his men to hang out, and even get a tour & tasting of their various brews.
