Portrait Sessions

Once you have decided to have your portraits taken with Kinstler Photography please contact me to plan your session and setup the dates and times for your photo shoot and ordering session (details below). For portrait sessions scheduled more than 2 months in advance I ask that you pay a 50% non-refundable deposit of the Creation Fee in order to reserve your date and time with me - the remaining balance will be collected at the time of the session. Otherwise I will collect the Creation Fee at the time of the session.

• Initial Contact

  
  During your initial contact we'll plan the portrait session. We'll discuss not only the style of image that you want but also where you want to hang your wall portraits, what gifts you may need for friends and family, and what clothing will work best for your session. I’ll need to know what background settings you prefer (e.g., beach, park, urban, countryside, home, etc.) and what date(s) you’re available so that I can check my schedule.



• The Portrait Session

  
  The portrait session lasts approximately 1-2 hours and I make it fun for everyone! You can bring as many outfit changes as you'd like but I always recommend keeping it simple to stay relaxed and comfortable at the portrait session.



• The Ordering Session

  
  The ordering session is when you will see your portraits for the first time as your images are projected at their highest resolution and in true color on an 80” screen! The ordering session can be scheduled for the same day, which is especially popular for family groups vacationing in Virginia Beach. Being able to select the pictures as a family will save time after the vacation.

Family Portraits in Sandbridge & Virginia Beach

If you're coming to Sandbridge Beach or the Virginia Beach Oceanfront area there's no better way to make your stay memorable than by taking family portraits on the beach! Most sessions take place in the evening hours to take advantage of the warm sunset colors and cooler beach air. My favorite times on the beach are capturing the candid moments in between formal poses. I love seeing the fascination in children's eyes when they get to play near the water or chase each other on the beach. These are the moments I want to capture - these are the moments you want to remember. Depending on where you're staying I can suggest some great places to go for the best beach portraits.

Planning Tips

When planning for your session, it's best to schedule your portraits earlier in the week so that no one gets too sunburned and we can reschedule in case of inclement weather. This also allows time to schedule the ordering session during your stay here so that you can have your orders placed before you leave! We can even setup the ordering session on the same day as your portraits if you're pressed for time. The major benefit to doing your ordering session in person is that everyone will be able to discuss the pictures together rather than trying to coordinate by phone or email after the vacation.

What To Wear for Beach Portraits

The key to what you wear is to show family unity while blending in with your surroundings. That's why you see a lot of families wearing white or blue shirts to match the sky and khaki pants to match the sand. By wearing matching outfits, the focus of your portraits will be on the family and not on what you're wearing.
